Walter Pichler
Austrian Sculptor, Illustrator and Architect
1936-2012
Austrian artist Walter Pichler was known for his illustrations of sculptures, often grotesque in a religious sense. The late architectural historian Dr. Elizabeth Gamard recruited Sarah for her German translation skills to translate pieces of a book about the artist's life.
Oswald von Wolkenstein
Medieval German Minnesanger, lyric poet, humorist and satirist
The german poet Oswald von Wolkenstein came from the same school as his contemporary, Walter von der Vogelweide. He was known for his love poetry and odes to the Virgin mary as much as he was for his lowbrow humor and cutting satire. In 2011, Sarah embarked on an independent study under the guidance of New Orleans Musica da Camera's co-founder Milton Scheuermann Jr., translating songs from Wolkenstein's Reflexe 1 & 2 collections.
